Celebrating 100 Years: A Look Back at Zion Cemetery’s Centennial Celebration

A little rain couldn’t stop us from celebrating 100 years of history at Zion Cemetery!

Our Centennial Celebration brought together families, friends, neighbors, board members and longtime supporters for an afternoon honoring the 100th anniversary of Zion Cemetery’s historic Visitors Center and the community that has surrounded Zion for generations.

The morning started with some rain, but luckily the skies cleared just in time for everyone to come out, explore the grounds and enjoy the celebration with us.

An Afternoon of Food, Fun & Community

Once the rain moved out, the festivities were in full swing. Guests enjoyed music, food, entertainment and plenty of family-friendly activities throughout the afternoon. And, of course, the petting zoo was a favorite!

More than anything, the day gave us a chance to simply spend time together.

We loved seeing familiar faces, meeting new neighbors and connecting with families who have a personal history with Zion. It was also an opportunity for visitors to learn more about Zion Cemetery today, from our historic grounds and services to the work being done to preserve this special place for future generations.

Introducing Friends of Zion

The Centennial Celebration was also a chance to share more about Friends of Zion, our new nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Zion Cemetery, preserving its history and helping ensure its future.

Zion has been part of this community for generations, and Friends of Zion creates a new way for people who care about this historic property to get involved, stay connected and support its continued preservation.

We were grateful to have so many supporters, community members and board members there to help us mark the beginning of this next chapter.

100 Years of History & More to Come

Celebrating the 100th anniversary of our Visitors Center was about more than looking back. It was also a celebration of the people who continue to make Zion Cemetery such a meaningful part of our community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, helped make the event possible and spent the afternoon celebrating with us. Rain clouds and all, we couldn’t have asked for a better way to mark 100 years.

Here’s to honoring Zion’s history, strengthening our community and carrying its story forward for the next 100 years.
