Zion Cemetery Arboretum

Zion is dedicated to caring for our grounds in a responsible, ecologically-sensitive way. To help us do so, we have become a Level 1 Arboretum, a designation which indicates that we have at least 25 species of woody plants that are labeled and accessible to the public. In addition, we host at least one educational tree-related event per year. Cemeteries provide a unique opportunity to preserve native species in spaces that are dedicated to remaining green in perpetuity.

We encourage you to walk our grounds and experience the softness of the shade, the cheeriness of the birdsong, and the gentle buzzing of native pollinators. Many studies have shown that spending time outdoors helps people reduce stress, improve mental health, and even boost their immune systems. Zion is grateful for the opportunity to not only provide perpetual care for those buried here, but also for the opportunity to help the living care for their heath and wellbeing.
