Meet the Board: Marian
What got you interested in cemeteries?
First, I am a genealogist and have written five family history books about different surnames in my family. Using data from cemeteries is critical to the process, and they provide so many clues about your family, where they lived and died, unknown babies that may have died and are buried in the family lot, and sometimes even marriage dates on tombstones.
Secondly I have over 80 relatives who are buried in Zion Cemetery and many of them were members of Zion Evangelical Church 120 plus years ago which was located in North St. Louis at 25th and Benton Street. Zion Church started this cemetery and it was logical for them to be buried in the church cemetery.
Preserving this heritage is important to me.
